Second Conditional

The second conditional in English is used to talk about a hypothetical situation and its possible outcome. The main difference with the first conditional is that the actions expressed in the second conditional are usually more improbable.

Second conditional can be used for situations that the speaker considers unlikely to happen in the future.

It is also used to talk about situations that are not true at the present time.

Structure: If + subject + verb in simple past, subject + would + verb in infinitive

Example:

If I had time, I would go swimming every day.

If I won the lottery, I would buy a big house.
