Third Conditional

The third conditional in English is the conditional used to talk about past situations and how they could have been different depending on whether or not the condition was met.

There are many times when we wish things had been different and we need to express our regret. The third conditional is an example of this.

Structure: If + subject + had + past participle + subject + would/wouldn't + have + past participle.

Example:

If she had studied more, she would have graduated.

If he had bought a new car, she would have been happier.
